Hanging around

A few elementary-school-age boys hung out, literally, on a tree at Seawall Park on June 30, celebrating the freedom of summer and the surprisingly dry weather in Langley, despite forecasts for rain and persistent gray clouds.
Their mother, Amanda Whittaker, had taken them to the park to spell her mother, the boys’ grandmother, after watching them earlier in the day. Ian Farris, 7, and Mathew Snyder, 8, were particularly fond of dangling from the small tree’s limbs upside down, while younger brother Joshuah Furlong, 4, looked longingly at the tree, but cried when he was placed on it.
