To the editor:
We, the board of directors of Whidbey Children’s Theater, wish to publicly extend our deepest appreciation and most sincere gratitude to Nancy Nolan, who, accompanied by superb bassist Dan O’Brien, gave a benefit performance on March 28 at WCT, with proceeds going to the children’s scholarship fund.
The setting was intimate, and Nancy’s stunningly evocative voice, along with her considerable charm and charisma, gave the perfect glow to an incredible performance that 80 people will not soon forget.
This is not the first time that Nancy has lent her support to WCT, and her compassion and caring were genuinely seen and felt at this wondrous event. Nancy called it a “living room” concert, and we like the phrase so much we are considering doing a series of “living room” events.
As always, we want to also thank our dedicated patrons and donors who make events like this not only possible but meaningful in so many ways to WCT. As a nonprofit organization, we rely heavily on support from the community to keep our programs going strong for children and teens. We are committed to the notion that all children are deserving of the opportunity to participate in theater arts, and so contributions to the scholarship fund and other aspects of our work are very precious indeed to the children and families who benefit.
Thanks are also due to the South Whidbey Record for its wonderful pre-coverage of the event, and to Verna Lawson and Joni Takanikos, for making the evening possible.
We hope to see you all again soon for our production of the delightful classic, “Charlotte’s Web,” featuring 50 local kids and teens, and directed by our illustrious founder, Martha Murphy.
