Published 7:47 am Monday, April 11, 2011

The free seminar “Car Care for Women and Men Secure Enough to Ask” will be held on Saturday, April 16 at the South Whidbey Senior Center.

The event is sponsored by local businesses to benefit the senior center. The seminar will run from 9 a.m. to noon.

Organizer Ed Jenkins said the seminar is not a do-it-yourself class, but will focus on making informed decisions and how to avoid bad repair shops.

Topics include:

• Understand your service needs for your type of driving;

• Oil, coolant and transmission services — when and why?

• Brakes, is that grinding noise normal?

• Important information before buying a new or used car

• How to handle emergencies and more.

Attendees can also get an oil analysis kit to use at their next oil service.
