Report on South Whidbey schools’ progress coming

Progress toward the South Whidbey School District’s goal of having 100 percent of graduates “college and career ready” by 2020 will be the main topic at its board meeting Friday.

School improvement plan updates will be given for each of South Whidbey’s four public schools: South Whidbey Elementary School, Langley Middle School, South Whidbey Academy and South Whidbey High School. The plans are the principals’ approach to increase student performance on metrics like standardized tests and attendance.

A report on the district’s goal of having all of its graduates “college and career ready” by 2020 will be presented by Christopher Sink as well.

An executive session to discuss Superintendent Jo Moccia’s evaluation, scheduled for one hour, will conclude the meeting. It has been an end-of-year school district practice since Moccia was hired in 2011.

The meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. at the school board meeting room at South Whidbey Elementary School, 5380 Maxwelton Road, Langley.
