MaryAnne (Newell) Cameron was born Aug. 10, 1936 in Seattle to Wickliffe and Helen (Cook) Newell. She went peacefully with our dear Lord on Dec. 14, 2007.
Her loving husband of 50 years, Bob Cameron, gave her the best care always and was very devoted. He was holding her sweet hands as God called to her.
She attended Queen Anne High School (her favorite school) in Seattle in the early 1950s and graduated from Edmonds High School in 1954.
MaryAnne was a member of Seattle’s Bethel Temple Church, and was active in choir at school and in church. She also belonged to the Snoqualmie Valley Riding Club in 1948.
She worked at Seattle’s Bigelow Building and for the Craftsmen Press Company.
MaryAnne loved her family, friends, books, cooking, music, laughter and Native American culture.
She resided in Apple Valley, Calif. for the past 25 years.
She is preceded by her father Wickliffe Guy Newell II; cousin Orva Jean (Newell) Schminkey and many other close relatives. Her great-grandfather and Civil War veteran Wickliffe Guy Newell and wife Ellen (Lawver) Newell brought their family to Whidbey Island from back east, Colorado and Nebraska. They rest at Bayview along with many other close relatives.
Her father, Wickliffe and uncle Warren Cook owned and operated the Cooks’ U-drive in downtown Seattle for many years.
She is survived by her husband Bob Cameron; children Bill, ValerieLynn, Sallyanne and Robert; grandchildren Wil, Jolene, Troy, Airika, Jamie and Melissa; great-grandchildren Savannah, Kyler and Kyle; brothers Warren (Joyce) Newell and Wickliffe Newell III; sisters Virginia Camp-Newell, Pauline (Lee) Poston; numerous nephews, nieces and cousins; aunt Betty (Newell) and uncle Mart Addicott; and mother Helen E. Newell, now 101 years young.
A celebration of her life will be held later this year.
