“The Arise Charitable Trust has announced educational grants totaling $35,600 awarded to South Whidbey women, and $49,300 to charitable nonprofit organizations which assist women. Arise was established by an anonymous donor in December 1986, to provide financial assistance to women who wish to meet their full potential in life, but need a helping hand.Organizational grants were made to: HOPE (Horsemanship Opportunities for Potential Equestrians), for instructional fees and training programs; South Whidbey School District, Middle School Program, Girls in Technology; Pregnancy Aid of Whidbey Island, to support pregnant women; Skagit Valley College, to continue the Women in Transition program; and South Whidbey Children’s Center for scholarships.Individual scholarships were granted to South Whidbey women for their attendance at college or other accredited learning programs. The recipients are: Michelle Case, Katrina Collins, Lisa Crouch, Alicia Gianni, Jennifer Gran, Deborah Grimm, Karen Grossman, Heather Hagle, Brenda Hamilton, Wendy Hantz, Karen Hooser, Jolayne Larson, Gretchen Lawlor, Mary Lint, Angela Magney, Ashlea Meyring, Amber Morrison, Debbie Nelson, Marilynn Norby, Ruth Norman, Erin Otteman, Dodie Pederson, Roxanne Peterson, Suzanne Pitman, Sheree Roberts, LaLee Rodriguez, Beth Savage, Ann Slattum, Donna Stevenson, Teresa Sullivan, Denise Wooten, and Dorcas Young. The Arise Charitable Trust considers grant applications twice a year, in May and November. If you have a goal and are determined to reach it, but need help, Arise may be able to assist.
