Hearts & Hammers

After gathering with the hundreds of Hearts and Hammers volunteers, a group of about 15 participants drove to a property off Triangle Road in Langley.

The group arrived at a beautiful country property with roaming hills and fruit trees. The Mott family built two homes on the property about 50 years ago . The wear of time, along with the large amount of land, have made the homes difficult to keep up.

Home leader Frank Mestemacher introduced the volunteers to the homeowners and went over the tasks at hand. The repairs needed ranged from cleaning out the basement, to installing a wood stove and replacing installation.

After introducing themselves, volunteers headed off to work on jobs that best suited their skills and interest. The mood was light and friendly, and participants worked

efficiently while getting to know each other. Everyone involved was happy to lend a hand to their neighbors.
