Literacy sets tutor training dates

“South Whidbey Literacy, which trains volunteers to tutor Whidbey Islanders who are not proficient in reading English, will offer several January training times. Literacy tutoring is done on a free, one-to-one, confidential basis.A two-day trainingsession is set for Jan. 29 and 31, 5-9 p.m. Additional training for tutors of English as a Second Language (ESL) will be provided in an all-day class on Jan. 5, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.; or in two half-day sessions, Jan. 16 and 18, from 5-9 p.m. A $24 fee will be refunded on completion of training.Classes will be held in Everett under the auspices of Snohomish Literacy.
