Two Highway 525 car accidents sent several teens to the hospital this week.

The most serious, a one-car accident south of Greenbank Sunday morning, sent two South Whidbey men to the hospital.

At 1:21 a.m. Christopher Hezel, 20, of Langley, failed to negotiate a curve on Harrington Road, according to Washington State Patrol spokeswoman.

She said the 2003 Subaru WRX struck a tree with the left rear corner, spun, struck another tree and then flipped onto its side before slamming to a stop against two trees. Hezel and his passenger, Jessie E. Sitton, 20, of Langley, were both wearing seatbelts, but were seriously injured.

Washington State Patrol troopers, Central Whidbey Island Fire and Rescue volunteers and Whidbey General Hospital paramedics responded to the accident. Hezel and Sitton were transported to Whidbey General Hospital.

Hezel suffered leg, back and facial injuries, according to the state patrol, and Sitton suffered leg and facial injuries.

Sitton was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center, and was listed in satisfactory condition Tuesday morning. Hezel was also in satisfactory condition Tuesday at Whidbey General Hospital.

A spokesperson from Central Whidbey Island Fire and Rescue said it took approximately two hours to cut the men out of the vehicle.

The second accident, which occurred Wednesday near Cultus Bay Road, sent two other teens to the hospital. Information about those teens was not available from the state patrol.
