    Crews worked to raise a partially sunken barge and submerged crane Wednesday afternoon at South Whidbey Harbor.

    The barge was being used as a platform to pound pilings for the marina expansion project and began to take on on water shortly before 9 a.m.

    Residents on Lupine Lane in Clinton woke up to an unwelcome noise Monday morning. Nine neighbors had gathered to physically block a drilling tractor from entering the Dorothy Cleveland Trail through an access road on the small street.

    Ed Field, operations manager of the Port of South Whidbey, said the workers were checking on area conditions of the proposed tower – a requirement of the building permit.

    The Holmes Harbor Golf Course is officially open.

    Operator Craig Moore, who is bringing the facility up to par, opened the course for play Friday, July 26, several days earlier than planned.

    More than 150 players had already teed off prior to the official opening. Several just happened to stop by not knowing the course had been closed.
