Whidbey Island Bank officer is speaker for strategy series

Western Washington University’s College of Business and Economics will host George Bowen as part of its Strategic Management Executive Strategy Speaker Series.

Western Washington University’s College of Business and Economics will host George Bowen as part of its Strategic Management Executive Strategy Speaker Series.

Bowen, executive vice president and chief banking officer of Whidbey Island Bank, graduated from Western with a bachelor’s degree in business administration in 1970 and a master’s degree in 1983. He will speak during the series at 3 p.m. Friday, Jan. 27 in Communications Facility Room 115 on the Western campus. The presentation is free and open to the public.

The Western CBE Strategic Management Executive Strategy Speaker Series program brings senior business leaders to the campus to interact with students and share their perspectives on strategic management, leadership and professional development.

Bowen is a 40-year veteran of the banking industry and is responsible for retail, commercial, and mortgage banking activities at Whidbey Island Bank. Whidbey Island Bank is a $1.8 billion community bank with 31 offices serving Island, King, Snohomish, Skagit, San Juan and Whatcom counties.
