To the editor:

Investigation of 9/11 has nothing to do with political affiliation.

More than 1,500 reputable architects and engineers have asked serious, science-based questions about the information presented to the American public. The rapidity of the towers’ and Building 7’s fall is extremely unusual; it begs for an explanation. Why did these buildings collapse from jet fuel fire, when other buildings of similar structure burning at similar temperatures did not? Could the molten steel which appeared in 9/11 photographs be connected to hotter-burning thermite residue found in the rubble?

Families of 9/11 victims, raising questions about the U.S. government’s version of events, are also asking for further investigations by a politically non-biased commission, utilizing more advanced forensic techniques than those available 10 years ago. It is both reasonable and necessary that Americans have all the facts before them before drawing any conclusions about an event that has so profoundly changed our nation. Critical thinking does not trivialize this tragic event. We honor the dead and our heroic responders by making sure we know what happened and how to prevent any similar event in the future.
