A consensus on global warming has not been reached

Editor,

I was interested in Robin Charlwood’s response in the May 31 edition, “There is a consensus on global warming,” to David Powell’s concerns on global warming and the statement that there “are straight forward answers” to his concerns.

I believe the statement should state that there is a consensus “within the group who believe that global warming is a fact and is caused by humans.”

It is quite obvious that there is another element in our population who have doubts. They are not as organized or funded as the group of “believers” but they still find the “believers” claims difficult to accept. Even though they are dismissed and belittled by the “professionals,” they are an element in this “discussion.”

To say that a “consensus” has been reached on a subject when only one side has voted, I think, would be incorrect.
