To the editor:
Six bills prime sponsored by Rep. Barbara Bailey were signed into law by Gov. Chris Gregoire from the 2009 Legislative Session and a total of 44 measures either prime or secondary sponsored by the 10th District lawmaker have made their way to the governor’s desk.
To name a few, Rep. Bailey protected seniors with House Bill 1869, providing transparency and better public information on the cost and quality of healthcare. She eliminated the requirement that state retirement plan members make contributions for interruptive military service upon return to state service if their service was during a period of war with House Bill 1548.
Rep. Bailey helped her constituents to pay their bills when she made it possible for counties to adopt a weekly pay period for county officers and employees (House Bill 1461). She helped seniors when she changed Medicare Supplement policy replacement standards with House Bill 1567 and required that the reporting of premiums for tax purposes be consistent with the basis the insurer used. Her House Bill 1568 prohibited certain practices for surplus line brokers. Her House Bill 1749 positively modified licensing, education, and background check standards for mortgage brokers and loan originators.
Barbara Bailey remembers who she works for, understands our needs, and has earned our trust and our support by looking out for her constituents time and time again.
