To the editor: The incredible community of South Whidbey pulled together yet again to make Whidbey Island Nourishes (WIN) Heart to Heart Valentine fundraiser a major success. Des Rock, of Useless Bay Coffee, and his crew created a delicious and memorable meal which was served by WIN’s incredible volunteers in a transformed setting at Useless Bay Coffee.

The incredible community of South Whidbey pulled together yet again to make Whidbey Island Nourishes (WIN) Heart to Heart Valentine fundraiser a major success. Des Rock, of Useless Bay Coffee, and his crew created a delicious and memorable meal which was served by WIN’s incredible volunteers in a transformed setting at Useless Bay Coffee.

We were fortunate to have the strong support of Nancy Nordoff, who provided a matching/challenge grant of $10,000. WIN’s supporters more than matched the challenge that night to the tune of $13,650. Now that’s a community that sees the importance of getting free, nutritious meals to kids on non-school days.

The families who benefit and all the WIN volunteers feel so grateful for the support this community shows. Thank you Des, Nancy, and all those who donate both money and volunteer hours to make our work possible.
