Dedicated effort helps youth | LETTER TO THE EDITOR

To the editor:

I would like to thank all the volunteers who took their time to referee, coach and keep score, and others who helped in various capacities during the girls and boys South Whidbey Parks and Recreation youth basketball program. Their dedicated effort throughout the year made this a successful and smooth season.

Their desire to help the youth in this community is admirable. Without their time and commitment, more than 360 girls and boys would not have been able to develop their basketball skills, but even more, the life-long skills associated with sports: winning, losing, teamwork, commitment and so on. Thank you.

I would also like to give a very grateful acknowledgement to all the people who refereed and coached throughout the season. Without these people, there are no basketball games. They worked hard to provide a fun and exciting structured recreational activity. Thank you for your time and effort.

The following businesses and organizations in the community have been a tremendous support to the girls and boys youth basketball program this past season with their sponsorship. They deserve to be recognized: Price/Johnson Construction, ASE&T Inc., Pacific Landscapes of Whidbey, Summit Financial Group, the Star Store, Honeymoon Bay Coffee, McMaster Homes, PayLess Foods, Davido Consulting, Kiwanis, South Whidbey Assembly of God, Family Care Physical Therapy, Bayview Vision Clinic, Porter Whidbey Insurance, Jeff’s Painting, Nichols Brothers Boat Builders, Pacific Window and Door Store and Hanson’s Building Supply.

Again, I would like to thank all the dedicated people who made an effort to get involved in the lives of the youths of this community.
