Ferry system should put money into new boats | LETTER TO THE EDITOR

To the editor:

There is a very important ferry meeting to be held at the Langley Middle School at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 13.

It is imperative that we let the DOT know that ferry service to Whidbey Island is an integral part of our lives, and should not be interrupted. Any funds that may be available for the Washington State Ferries should be used for new boats, not upgrading terminals.

The idea of relocating the Mukilteo terminal to Edmonds is preposterous. Nor should money be spent to reduce congestion, or improve safety, or make the terminals earthquake proof, or making walking on more comfortable.

The only really vital need is for new boats.

If we don’t have boats, everything else is superfluous.
