To the editor:
Daughters of Norway Ester Moe Lodge No. 39 threw a party for our community and UFFDA! What a great crowd we had.
We would like to sincerely thank our Whidbey Island friends and neighbors, and visitors who came from far and near, for their enthusiastic support of our 11th annual Nordic Fest. You made our day especially wonderful in so many ways.
Once again the success of Nordic Fest was due to the efforts of many, including our wonderful vendors with their top-quality wares. Remember that many of them are local, so if you didn’t catch them at Nordic Fest, you can still shop Nordic here on Whidbey.
We would also like to thank the entertainers, who succeeded in bringing such a festive and enjoyable atmosphere to the day. We were treated to performances by Vern Olsen, Talia Marcus, the Morris-Moe-Zick Trio, the Northwest Nordic Ladies’ Chorus, the Liekarringen Dancers with fiddler Bill Boyd, and Randy Bradley, with some surprise guests. How nice to see our own Karla Gilbert singing here on Whidbey Island once again. How we have missed her. Thanks to the Young Skandia Dansers, who provided wonderful craft tables and activities for the children.
Most of all, we would like to thank members of our great community, who came out to support us with their presence. We appreciate each and every one of you, and thank you for joining us. To put it simply, we all had a blast and hope you did too.
We would like to especially thank South Whidbey High School and its wonderful staff who were such a great help in putting on this event. We have worked with them for many years, and they always do their utmost to make everything run smoothly and to bring their expertise to assist in any way they can. They are true professionals and greatly appreciated.
There were many special things this year, but the main thing was the community coming out in huge numbers to share a great day with all of us. To our Ester Moe Lodge No. 39 members, and to our non-member friends, families and supporters who worked so hard and worked as a terrific team to put this event on, thanks for your efforts. You are awesome.
Each year we endeavor to make Nordic Fest better, and we prepare for months to make that happen. We enjoy very much sharing our heritage and culture with our friends and neighbors, and hope that once again you had a wonderful time. We sure did.
Tusen takk to all!
