Let’s not vilify anyone | LETTER TO THE EDITOR

To the editor:

As a fairly longtime resident of Langley, I have seen waves of politics/special interests/reforms/debates/harangues/boom talk/bust talk come through regularly.

None of us Langleyites have been free of our biases — after all, it’s a small town, isn’t it? We even regularly get people from outside town coming up with “perfect solutions” to our latest problem — haven’t we all done this about problems far from us? Langley has had times where we couldn’t beg, borrow or steal coverage from the press for city doings, and times when every tremor or polarity in the city makes provocative headlines.

I am hopeful of one thing, especially in this season of camaraderie, compassion and sharing. It is that with every comment made about our terrific city with its many wonderful people, or every suggested solution to the complex and myriad problems Langley shares with thousands of small towns, we really try to express without intent to wound or vilify anyone at all.

Are we up to this? I think we can do it. Merry Christmas!
