Editor,
Well, it’s been six-plus months since I applied for one of two advisory board positions for the city of Oak Harbor, and I still have not heard if I will be able to serve. I have been stonewalled and told to be patient, that something was being discussed Still not really understanding what needs to be discussed, something about qualifications? Hmm? If a citizen wants to serve, especially in a volunteer capacity, when there is an open position, the mayor and city council should be jumping at the chance to fill those positions.
Here are my qualifications: I grew on/in North Whidbey/Oak Harbor. I graduated from Oak Harbor High School. I served my country for 25 years. I served the local community for another seven years and I’m a voting citizen of Oak Harbor and Island County.
This is another instance where the local elected representatives (not leaders) drag their feet and forget who they work for! Oh, by the way, Ronnie, did you get your fence taken care of? It would seem that with your recent pay raise and all the time you can’t or won’t account for working 40+ hours a week as the mayor, with tangible and meaningful accomplishments, you should have had plenty of time and finances to get it done. Your excuse of waiting until March for better weather was lame. Square your self away. Check the watch bill and do your job!
