Letter: Council candidate should explain opinion on resolution

Editor,

Barbara Armes, a candidate for Oak Harbor City Council Position 4, lists precinct committee officer as her “elected experience” to qualify for the office. Last year, almost two years after the 2020 election, the Island County Republican Party issued a controversial resolution rejecting the certified result of that election, and holding that Biden was not legitimately elected (July 22, 2022 Whidbey News-Times story). Chairman Tim Hazelo is quoted as saying the precinct officers “overwhelmingly adopted” the resolution.

I want to see Ms. Armes state publicly whether she was among those who voted in favor of that resolution and, if so, whether she stands by that resolution today, as she campaigns for a seat on the city council.
