Letter: History won’t be kind to Trump, those who attacked our democracy

Editor,

To the pro-Trump letter writers — you guys are living in an alternate universe seeded by Trump, the narcissistic jerk with the brain of a spoiled 3-year-old who is angry because he lost the election.

Trump knows he lost, as do all the cultish Republicans who are following him like lemmings over a cliff.

Trump, the bleach-promoting nut case, programmed his base by telling them that if he didn’t win reelection it had to be “rigged.” His base believed him.

One of the many reasons Trump tried to do whatever he could to stay in office is that he knows he could spend the rest of his life fighting subpoenas and paying lawyers a pile of money to keep him out of the slammer. He is indebted to Russian oligarchs as suggested by this confirmed quote by his son, “Russians make up a pretty disproportionate cross-section of a lot of our assets.”

It won’t only be attorneys general who go after him. Perhaps he should be more concerned about the Russian oligarchs or Deutsche Bank who were dumb enough to loan him money or invest in his businesses. The Russians are not nice guys and often don’t play by the book.

Trump will likely be dumping some assets below market price to satisfy some of the debt to keep them at bay. Sadly, with the help of Fox News and whacked, brain-compromised Marjorie Taylor Greene and Trump Medal-of-Freedom-recipient Rush Limbaugh, many Republicans and their party members have abandoned reality.

Space lasers, pedophiles, baby-eaters, Q- Anon — give me a break. The GOP has morphed into a cult that is following a crazy man.

Worse yet, those same GOP enablers did not vote to impeach Trump after he sent his band of crazies to the Capitol so they could ransack it and cause death and destruction.

Two-faced Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell admitted that Trump did commit treason on Jan 6.

McConnell also told us you can’t impeach a president once he has left office.

Not true. But there is hope for justice as McConnell did let us know that civil courts could go after Trump for his criminal activities while in office.

I won’t hold my breath.

Some in the GOP pander to far-right groups such as the Proud Boys and swastika-waving un-American racists and those lost souls who bought into the craziness of Trump and his crooked family members.

I doubt that history will be kind to those who tried to take down our democracy and the rotten criminal in the Oval Office who encouraged them to do it. Unfortunately, Trump and his followers won’t be going away soon.
