Letter: Honor veterans, don’t light off any fireworks

Editor,

I know that for many, many years the way to celebrate was to set off personal fireworks. I am pleading with you all to stop this tradition in honor of our veterans.

So many come home and have seen and experienced things that most of us can’t even imagine. The sounds of fireworks going off, brings many of these people that have sacrificed so much right back to those places that have caused them to have many, many nightmares. We all can give back to these heroes a day and night of peace and quiet as we celebrate our nation and honor them. Please join me in giving this gift to our veterans. Without them, we would not have the freedom we enjoy today!

There are many places to go to that offer public displays of fireworks. Please think about attending one of those, rather than setting off your own. Not only is it a lot safer for everyone, but also, by not setting off your own, this will keep all our pets and the wildlife calm too.

Thank you so much, I hope you have a wonderful Fourth of July celebration, and God Bless America!
