Letter: Misleading to equate BLM with a few violent exceptions

Letter to the Editor

The Sept. 9 Whidbey News-Times headline, “Residents calling for removal of BLM sign,” might lead one to think many voices are involved.

I don’t see evidence of that.

And that Mr Rose tries to equate the Black Lives Matter movement with a few violent, law-breaking exceptions is equally misleading.

I suspect, like me, I suspect, Mr. Rose does not condemn all police because a few are excessively violent. For me, BLM is essentially a public health notice: Protect a vulnerable population — made vulnerable by racism and policy, just as children are made vulnerable by underfunding schools and public health.
