Letter: Music Fest will be free of politics

Editor,

The Oak Harbor Music Festival has been a favorite event since it’s inception. With unparalleled views we all fell in love with the rhythms and lyrics of the festival.

I have been fortunate enough to have a meeting with the one and only Larry Mason on the 21st of this month. The discussion we had focused on the beauty and unity everyone sees down on Pioneer Way every Labor Day weekend. We both agreed there’s a time and place for everything.

Life is hard and music gives us a place to take our burdens and set them down. It doesn’t matter who you are or where you’re from and it certainly doesn’t matter as to your political preference. Everyone who comes to the Oak Harbor Music Festival is loved and accepted for who they are.

In the spirit of unity and all that makes this festival so beautiful, the political candidates have all agreed to remove our signs from the festival grounds for the duration of the festival. It’s the understanding that all candidates will be participating in this endeavor.

Looking forward to seeing everyone and singing our hearts out together.
