Letter: Scrutinize school candidates before voting this year

Editor,

I appreciate Michael Ferri’s letter of Oct. 15. I, too, have been concerned about the emergence of ultra-conservative, right-wing ideologues seeking local offices of late. When Ward Sparacio came to my door seeking my support for his candidacy, I immediately recognized his use of the “code words” Mr. Ferri alluded to. When I asked him about what these words really meant, his answers were in my view, fumbling, evasive and inadequate. They made no sense. I urge caution when you cast your vote. Become aware of who these candidates are, beneath the rhetoric.

Some readers may know me and be aware that my late wife Suzanne served as Coupeville School superintendent from 1996 until 2002. She did, and I do, have inside knowledge of the importance of who sits on the school Board of Directors.

Please join me in supporting our known and trusted community members, Morgan White and Nancy Conard, for Coupeville School Board. These women have significant experience and have actually been in our schools. They are known for their contributions. Our schools, and your children will be safe and well served in their hands.
