Letter: Students will remember Mr. Black

Editor,

I would wager that a student remembers a teacher or counselor who had a profound influence on their education and/or life skills. Not to belittle what has been touted as a superb chef in the Coupeville schools, but how many students will remember the name of the head oftheir food service?

If a concerned educator visits a student’s home to help the student with behavioral or academic issues, I believe not only the troubled student, but also his or her friends, will remember that person’s name.

As a matter of fact, I doubt that many educators even think of this type of needed action, while the really superb educator, like Mr. Black, considers it to be one of his responsibilities as an educator. People, especially those who make academic decisions in Coupeville, are making a huge blunder to dismiss Mr. Black. His service is beyond reproach.
