Letter: SW superintendent has little funding to work with

Editor,

I am writing in support of Superintendent Jo Moccia, who is trying to do the impossible task of maintaining a school district with the loss of funding, due not just to significant declining enrollment, but also to the current state of declining support due to levy lid legislation.

As a person who worked for 35 years in our state’s public school system, I saw the toll that a lack of funding takes on public servants in the school system.

Jo Moccia is working long, hard hours for our children of South Whidbey in a very difficult situation.

She, like all of us, deserves respect and compassion. If she is run out of office by a group of angry parents, we will deserve the next superintendent we are able to hire.
