LETTER TO THE EDITOR | A ‘fare’ way to fund law and justice

Editor,

In the April May 1 South Whidbey Record, I see the law and justice folks need a helping hand. No surprise there, but they want to raise taxes.

How about this instead: Let’s put fare boxes on all the Island Transit buses, let the riders pay their own way, and take the tax money we dump in the transit black hole and give it to the sheriff and county legal folks?

I don’t know about you, but, when things are going south, I prefer a deputy to show up rather than a bus driver.
