LETTER TO THE EDITOR | Business support was vital to tour

To the editor:

Fundraising events like the Tour de Whidbey require an incredible depth of community support to be successful. Often overlooked are the businesses who contribute to the behind-the-scenes support. On behalf of the Whidbey General Hospital board of directors I am writing to acknowledge the businesses whose generosity and community spirit helped make the purchase of a state-of-the-art ultrasound for the obstetrics unit at Whidbey General Hospital possible.

The following businesses contributed products and services to ensure riders found their way, had sustenance in the morning, out of the road and when they finished their ride: Ace Hardware – Oak Harbor, Albertson’s Sav-On, Bicycles Northwest, Clif Bar, Clinton Food Mart, Signs & Designs, Home Depot, Mukilteo Coffee Roasters, Papa Murphy’s Pizza, Saars Marketplace and The Star Store.

The following businesses contributed appreciation gifts for the approximately 150 volunteers who made the event possible: 123 Thai, Second Street Wine Shop, Ace Hardware – Freeland, The BBQ Joint, Bayleaf deli, Captain Whidbey Inn, Clyde Theatre, Compass Rose Bed & Breakfast, Coupeville Inn, Dianna’ Vinyasa Yoga, Greenbank Café, The Healthy Pet, Heidi’s Coffee House, Joe’s Island Music, MaSue’s Massage, Miriam’s Expresso, Oak Harbor Cinema and Webb’s Department Store.

We totally appreciate each of these businesses. Please let them know you do, too.
