Editor, dear friends and family,
What an amazing turnout and event on Saturday, Nov. 15, in honor of Tucker Stevens. Thanks to all of you who helped plan and execute a complex celebration and all who attended, despite the chilly air, the walk down to the bonfire at the marina.
Thanks to the mayor and the city for the surprise recognition of Tucker’s contribution to the City of Langley and especially to Mayor Fred McCarthy for leading us in the personalized sing-a-long to commemorate a life well-lived. Thanks to the band members who played a rousing rendition of “When the Saints Go Marching In” without former knowledge that this was a piece Tucker had requested at his memorial service.
Thanks also to Whidbey Island Center for the Arts staff for the support and work they did to create a beautiful space for friends and family to gather. Lastly, thanks to all the people who attended and/or donated items to Tucker’s favorite event, a potluck. The family felt loved and got to experience, first-hand, an important part of their dad’s life. It was clear to us all how well-regarded he was by his friends and what an invaluable member he was to his community.
Thank you,
KATHRYN STEVENS
Langley
