LETTER TO THE EDITOR | Clinton business owner says ‘thank you’

Editor, To all my many friends, I just want to take this time to let you all know how profoundly touched I was by the outpouring of love that was on display this past Saturday night, July 18. I’m not sure what the future holds for me, as Shirley’s will not be able to reopen. Because of your kindness I know the road will be far smoother than I originally anticipated. The list of people to thank is far too extensive to list here, but I would be remiss if I didn’t take the time to mention just a few.

Editor,

To all my many friends, I just want to take this time to let you all know how profoundly touched I was by the outpouring of love that was on display this past Saturday night, July 18. I’m not sure what the future holds for me, as Shirley’s will not be able to reopen. Because of your kindness I know the road will be far smoother than I originally anticipated. The list of people to thank is far too extensive to list here, but I would be remiss if I didn’t take the time to mention just a few.

Troy and Stephanie (owners of Cozy’s), for opening up their hearts and their doors to host my benefit. They truly understand that without community we are all strangers. The boys of “Freeborn,” Kate Smith and her brother Mike, the Izetts, my family here and in AK, and last but not least Jim Freeman. I can never repay all of your kindness, but rest assured if you ever need me I’ll be there. Again, please accept my sincerest gratitude. You make me proud to be an islander.

SHIRLEY WILSON
