To the editor:

According to the State Supreme Court, the Public Trust Doctrine has been state law since the state has begun.

The Public Trust Doctrine gives the citizens of our state the right to use for “recreation and commerce” the shoreline below the high tide mark. The deeded rights of the tidelands owner do not supersede the rights of fishermen, walkers, etc., who are exercising the rights provided to them by the Public Trust Doctrine.

The fisherman, walkers, etc., are legal trespassers.
