LETTER TO THE EDITOR | Freeland; friendly, beautiful due to community efforts

Editor,

Friends of Freeland moved the planters on Main Street to the sheriff’s office where they have promised to keep them looking good.

We will help with additional plants to get them off to a great start and to make this an enjoyable place to drive by.

Many people worked very hard to give these planters a good home and they deserve a big thank you.

Dan Wallace brought his excavator, and truck, and gave us a day of his valuable time and expertise — the planters would not be level if not for his skill in placing them. Richard Epstein and Bill Fredrick did the planning and Jim Chadwick brought a flatbed trailer to move it all. Richard Davis and Christine Epstein were supporting spouses giving their time and energy to make it all happen. Dave Hardesty from Napa Auto Parts donated a day with his forklift. The Whidbey Island Garden Tour gave a $600 grant to help with the expenses.

Their annual garden tour is on the June 28 this year and is an excellent way for garden lovers to support projects in the community.

Finally, a thank you to all the nice people who stopped to chat with us and offer support. What a friendly community we live in.

JUNE DAVIS

President Friends of Freeland
