LETTER TO THE EDITOR | Gardner should get re-elected to hospital board

Editor, I am writing to endorse Georgia Gardner. I have met her only once, but she is articulate, passionate and knows the business. She is particularly qualified to continue in this position.

Editor,

I am writing to endorse Georgia Gardner. I have met her only once, but she is articulate, passionate and knows the business. She is particularly qualified to continue in this position.

I am particularly wary of someone (Mr. Rob Born) who wants to affiliate the hospital. To me it is code for limiting women’s choice, as many hospitals in the state are finding that affiliation with religiously affiliated hospitals means limiting women’s access to needed healthcare. As one raised a Catholic, I can tell you, my mother refused to give birth in Catholic hospitals. She feared for her own life.

The letters attempting to smear Gardner smack of desperation. Mr. Gunn could have continued to appeal county action or paid the additional money, but he instead blames Ms. Gardner for choices he made.

Whidbey Island has only one hospital. Let’s keep it independent and strong by voting for Georgia Gardner.
