To the editor:

I’d like to say “Congratulations” to Rick Brewer and the Port of South Whidbey for a job WELL DONE! It’s been a pleasure this summer to watch our marina be filled with boats and people, enjoying a beautiful summer and exploring Langley and Whidbey Island.

I met a boating family at an ice cream shop in Coupeville last month. They came to the South Whidbey marina on a friend’s boat, and rode the bus all over Whidbey, as well as spending a day or so at grandparents’ homes (two separate grandparents, one in Oak Harbor, one in Clinton). They were having so much fun! It was a pleasure to make their acquaintance.

Congratulations to the port for choosing Brewer, a personable, hard-working multi-talented marina manager. Rick helped the marina increase revenues significantly in a year of severe economic challenges — frankly, that feat is a work of art. Common sense tells me that next summer will be even better.

Go, marina, go!
