Editor,

I am writing to offer my endorsement of Karla Jacks for Island County Commissioner, District 3.

Island County voters should be elated to have such a well-rounded candidate running for this important position.

I have personally had the pleasure of volunteering with Jacks in the Stanwood-Camano community and have always known her to be transparent, ethical and fair in all of her dealings.

With her strong background in the hospitality industry, she has mastered the art of being an intuitive listener, finding common sense and innovative solutions to complex issues and maintaining operational excellence.

Jacks has worked with many different groups in her community. She is currently the executive director of the Camano Senior Center, and has worked closely with high school students and families as a team parent for several sports teams. Jacks also piloted a peer-buddy program for children with disabilities and also served as president of the Camano Chamber of Commerce, just to mention a few.

I have no doubt that Jacks will use her well-honed skills to serve her constituents by creating an environment of long-term health and safety for the Island County Community.

It is not every day that you are lucky enough to have a candidate as genuine and committed to the betterment of her community as Karla Jacks.

ELKE MAJOR
