LETTER TO THE EDITOR | Let’s set sail for Mars, home of Goddess of Peace

Editor, I read with shock and dismay the Earth Day edition of The Record, describing the browning and withering of our once green island. Possession Point Park has been kidnapped by pirates. Choochokam is drowning in litter and rubbish. Whidbey Environmental Action Network whines about clear cuts. An ancient seer named POGO proclaimed, “We have met the enemy and he is us.” We must act quickly on “island time,” with lots of advance notification.

Editor,

I read with shock and dismay the Earth Day edition of The Record, describing the browning and withering of our once green island.

On Earth Day 2017, carrying banners proclaiming cargo cult, all humans gather on the shoreline of Whidbey Island. Bring your boats, whether tiny canoes, kayaks, and sail boards or massive yachts and fishing boats. Ask your friends on the mainland to sail their boats to our shores to assist in the Dunkirkian evacuation from Whidbey.

In a day, every human being can and should be off Whidbey. Without our polluting presence, Whidbey turns iridescent green once again.

Don’t betray nature. Meet me on the shore on Earth Day 2017, ready to evacuate and purify Whidbey. Inspired by our example, on Earth Day, 2018 the entire population of planet earth, all 7.3 billion of us, prepares our space arks to sail the seas of space for planet Mars, home of the Goddess of Peace, to Save Gaia.
