To the editor:
When is someone going to tell President Obama that the elections are over and he is now president of the United States of America.
It is time that he quit campaigning and get back to Washington and work with the House and Congress.
It is time that we as a country start looking to the positive aspects of this great country and not see all the gloom that is predicted. We will survive and we will remain the great country that we are if we work together and start taking the individual responsibility we need to, and not look to the government to solve all our problems.
It is also time to start uniting and bonding as we look to each other for assistance when needed and help one another in the present economy.
I am getting weary of the divisions in our country and the attitude that if you do not agree with something that you are ignorant and accused of not being patriotic.
Just because I sometimes have a different opinion, and voted for and supported President Bush, I am somehow not supportive of my country.
I did not always agree with President Bush, but he was my president and when I disagreed, I would let him know. It is a sad time when if you do disagree, you are made to feel that you are not being the patriotic citizen that you should be.
This country was based on freedom of speech, and that means that I have a right to express my feelings without being made to feel that I am wrong in doing so.
It is time we start thinking for ourselves, and then evaluating what position we want to take. Then speak out and feel free to do so.
We are blessed to live in a community that does look out for each other.
