To the editor:
Approximately 60 people ranging in age from 1 to 82 gathered at the South Whidbey High School tennis courts last Saturday for a couple of hours of fun together. The Tennis Block Party and Junior Olympic Skills Competition, both free events for the community, were terrific examples of boys and girls, kids and adults, exercising and “playing” together. What an honor for us, along with South Whidbey Parks and Recreation District, to host such events. One of the reasons we teach tennis in our community is because it is a sport that families can play together. It’s a sport for a lifetime.
We couldn’t have run two events concurrently without the support of our volunteers. We are grateful for the following people who helped make a difference in kids’ and adults’ lives that day: Linda Belyeu, Adam Buck, Victoria Comfort, Bob Hover, KK Iversen, Bob Klein, Chris Kramer, Andy McRea, Carrie Monforte, Lindsey Newman, Riley Newman, Debbie Raden, Steven Raden, Bob Wheeler, Natalie Wheeler, Nichol Zalewski and Rick Zalewski.
We are also grateful for support from South Whidbey School District, South Whidbey Parks and Recreation District, United States Tennis Association and Junior Olympic Skills Program.
See you on the courts!
