LETTER TO THE EDITOR | Much appreciation to the Back Country Horsemen

Editor, I decided to walk in the Putney Woods this morning fully expecting to see a lot of big trees down. That was the case! My thinking was that it will be a long time before these trails will be open. While walking out from a blocked “Canterberry Trail” I met a wonderful group of volunteers from the Back Country Horsemen. Chainsaws, fuel haulers, reconnaissance and a “swamper.”

Editor,

I decided to walk in the Putney Woods this morning fully expecting to see a lot of big trees down. That was the case! My thinking was that it will be a long time before these trails will be open.

While walking out from a blocked “Canterberry Trail” I met a wonderful group of volunteers from the Back Country Horsemen. Chainsaws, fuel haulers, reconnaissance and a “swamper.”

As part of the county’s “Adopt a Park” program they are out doing heavy duty work to reopen these beautiful and well-used trails.

Thank you Back Country Horsemen and women!
