To the editor:
My wife and I were enjoying a breakfast sandwich and latte at a local coffee shop when we were shocked and frightened to see a young man walk in wearing an openly holstered pistol.
While I recognize his lawful right to do that, how sad a commentary it is on our times that this person felt it necessary to protect himself from the lovely baristas. They have always seemed very peaceable to me, and when a mistake was made, I felt no need for a loaded pistol.
