LETTER TO THE EDITOR | Politicians’ absence won’t be forgotten

Array

To the editor:

What a difference time, topic and accountability make in the appearance of our state representatives.

It was a mere 63 days ago that had 125 residents of Whidbey Island met anyway, our state representatives, seeking your vote would have swarmed to any such event. The Jan. 6 public hearing on the future of the ferry system at the Useless Bay Country Club was another matter.

Ferry Director Moseley and Planning Chief Deardorf were left to make chicken salad from chicken “bleep” by a state Legislature which determines the funding for the system.

No member of the state Legislature attended the meeting. They were conspicuous by their absence, but I am sure they all had conflicts with their schedule, given the topic and their sorry excuse for accountability that has gotten us into this mess.

Try to remember their absence at the next election.
