LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Republicans are playing politics

To the editor:

In response to May 10 News-Times article about the “controversy” over Sen. Mary Haugen’s Oak Harbor office, Jim Larsen could have done further investigation to see the accusation as empty political play. He found no campaign material anywhere. He then quoted Gina Bull, the legislative assistant at the office and then quoted the GOP accusations once again.

The South Whidbey Record did their fact finding. The Record asked if a complaint had been made to the Public Disclosure Commission. There has been no complaint received. The Record then asked if a complaint had been made to the Ethics Commission. There is no complaint.

The reason no filing has been made to the Public Disclosure Commission or the Ethics Commission is no wrong doing has been done and the office is, as advertised, a local legislative office and not a campaign office. The only politics played in this instance is by the GOP.
