LETTER TO THE EDITOR | South Whidbey Turkey Trot was a success thanks to supporters

The South Whidbey Parks and Aquatics Foundation would like to thank the more than 50 runners and walkers, the dozen volunteers and all of the cheering Girl Scouts who came out on a chilly yet sunny Saturday morning for our first ever Turkey Trot at the Community Park on Nov. 21.

They all began their holiday season by having fun, being healthy and supporting a wonderful new recreation opportunity in our community: the South Whidbey Parks and Recreation District’s campground. Approximately $2,000 was raised for the district’s Campground Development Fund and almost a barrel of canned food was collected and donated to Good Cheer.

We’d also like to thank Joel Gerlach, one of the Parks District’s commissioners, for donating one of his locally raised turkeys as a door prize. We could not have put on such a successful event without the help and support of our many sponsors: Callahan’s Firehouse, Clinton Food Mart, edit., Melissa Cates Financial Advisor with Edward Jones, Front Row Creative, Naturopathic Dermatology, Hansen’s Building Supply, Pickles Deli, Roberta, Sophia & Rob, The Star Store, Useless Bay Coffee Co., Whidbey Island Bagel Factory, Whidbey Island Kayaking Co., Whidbey Performance Physical Therapy and the Parks District.

Thank you,

South Whidbey Parks and Aquatics Foundation
