LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Thanks to Whidbey residents who donated to breast cancer walk

To the editor:

We, the families who put on the garage and bake sale to benefit the Breast Cancer Three-Day Walk would like to thank this great community for the success of this event.

Each participant in the three-day walk must raise $2,200 in order to walk in the event. More than $3,000 was raised at the sale, which allowed each of us, the four “walkers” to come closer to our goal.

To all the people who came and bought, or just simply donated, we give you a heartfelt “THANK YOU.”

Many people attending the sale didn’t purchase anything but were more than willing to contribute to the Breast Cancer cause. A steady stream of people showed up, both Friday and Saturday. Many remarked about the publicity given by the The South Whidbey Record, and we owe much of the success of our sale to you. Thank you Record and your staff.

As the sale wound down on Saturday afternoon, the exhausted participants decided that cooking dinner was not an option. We ordered a couple of great pizzas from our local Freeland Besta’ Around Pizza. In fitting fashion of this great community, the owners, Lloyd and Tenny, made a generous contribution to the Breast Cancer Walk that truly topped off this great weekend.

Thank you community — you are the absolute GREATEST!
