LETTER TO THE EDITOR: The choice is clear for commissioner

To the editor:

When South Whidbey voters mark their ballot for the Aug. 19 primary, I want them to know that a vote for Helen Price Johnson will be the best vote they ever cast.

Helen comes to the table secure in her board experience, leadership and desire to keep our island communities intact. I want voters in South Whidbey to disregard the big name signs cluttering open spaces, non-party rhetoric and promises of a responsible government from irresponsible seat holders. It’s really time to take stock of the government we’ve created, all of us.

No one gets into office except by the voters. If you don’t think your government is working for you or for the preservation of our land and small community values, you have a choice this Aug. 19 for the primary election.

Helen Price Johnson should stand out in your mind if you already know her or if you take the time to listen to her. Helen stands up for what she believes and she will work hard so small businesses can be heard and working families feel welcome and wanted on both Whidbey and Camano because there are living wage jobs and low cost housing available.

I had the pleasure and fun of going to high school with Helen and her husband Dave Johnson, both of whom are pillars in our community and have given hundreds of hours to hometown causes right here on South Whidbey.

It shouldn’t take you long to fill out your ballot, Helen is THE ONLY choice for Island County Commissioner, District 1.
