LETTER TO THE EDITOR | Veteran says ‘Trumpism’ needs to be defeated

Editor, Never could I have imagined it 52 years ago when I served with the U.S. Army in Vietnam. Then, if it had been required, I was prepared to lay down my life. I didn’t question that answering a call to national service was my duty as a (male) citizen. In 1965, I never could have imagined the utter disappointment and disgust I feel today that one of the country’s two major political parties would select a person like Donald Trump to become their leader and candidate for president.

Editor,

Never could I have imagined it 52 years ago when I served with the U.S.

Is this the destiny of the country I served to protect? It’s utterly mind-boggling!

Now, at age 72, I’m ready to serve my country again. I’ll go at my own expense, along with any other willing citizens, to any election swing state in the nation, working to defeat Trumpism and all it stands for. Who’s with me?
