To the editor:

The Port District of South Whidbey Island wishes to express our gratitude to Ms. Victoria Moore for her beautiful contribution to making the port’s South Whidbey Harbor in Langley a more warm and inviting place for locals and tourists.

For many years, Ms. Moore has quietly planted the flower boxes at Phil Simon Park, and more recently, has added those at the entrance to the pier. Her construction of the planters, along with planting flowers in them, and harbormaster Rick’s new wine barrel planters have inspired other annual marina residents to chip in for additional planters on the pier.

These efforts are a fine example of how one person’s contribution to her community can have a huge positive influence on those around her.

Thanks to Victoria Moore, the harbormaster and the other tenants, the harbor is becoming a place in which we can all take pride.
