LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Visiting sailors want a bigger marina

To the editor:

I understand that the Langley Marina upgrade project is under way.

As a sailor that has visited that port many times over the years, I am glad to hear that this is going forward.

I organize a boating weekend for up to four boats every summer solstice with Langley as our destination and for the last two years the marina has been full by the time we arrived from Seattle. This has been disappointing, because we have enjoyed being able to acquire slips to moor in and visit the town.

Since we’ve been turned away the last two years we have anchored out and not come ashore. We would be very happy to be able to get slips and come ashore easily.

I am sure that there are many other sailors that have experienced the same disappointment in not being able to come into the marina. I and others encourage you and the town of Langley to get behind this project, we believe that it will be a benefit to many and not just sailors, but the businesses in Langley as well, since if we can’t get to town, we can’t spend any money to resupply.
